Hi Matt,

I was a returning student in 2004, after many years working in a different business.  I thoroughly enjoyed the landscape horticulture classes, but the true test of the quality of the program did not come until my first job in the new field of Landscape Design.  My employer started me as an assistant, but by the end of the season he felt I was capable of handling my own projects, worth thousands of dollars.  I felt confident and qualified for the position because the material we covered in classes was both practical and thorough. 

The teachers had both strong academic backgrounds as well as real life experience in the field. There was only one area that I felt a little unprepared for, and that was my own fault.  The class was offered as one of the alternates, but I ended up choosing something else.  I currently own my own Landscape Design business and  feel I was able to accomplish this because of the background I received at DCTC.  I would recommend it to anyone considering this major.
