ESOL

English for Speakers of Other Languages

Delivering 24 credits of coursework, the ESOL program at DCTC provides students with the English skills they need to be successful in the college's academic programs and the American workforce. Taught at intermediate and advanced levels, our ESOL courses focus on students who already have beginning-level English skills. Students may take from one to three courses each semester.

Applicants wishing to study English at DCTC should meet with the college's multicultural student advisor to discuss the program and explore their career goals. Interested students will be asked to take the ACCUPLACER English Language Learner  test, which determines if their English skills meet the program's requirements or if they need one or two semesters of ESOL program.
