Course Description
ENGL1800 : Mystery and Detective Literature
This course introduces the study of mystery and detective literature. There is an emphasis on exploring the relationship between contemporary mystery fiction and the stories of antiquity. Students will read a wide variety of literature and explore the texts through a variety of different literary approaches. The course will introduce students to such basic concepts as plot structure, point of view, characterization, imagery and symbolism, setting, tone, irony, and style.
