Post Secondary Enrollment Options

PSEO (Post Secondary Enrollment Options)

The Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) is a state program that provides qualified Minnesota juniors and seniors the opportunity to complete some of their high school requirements by taking courses at Dakota County Technical College or other regionally accredited institutions in Minnesota.

Individuals can either be home-schooled or attend a public or non-public high school. Students may take advanced-level courses and other courses not offered at their high school.

PSEO students may enroll part (11 credits or less) or full time (12 credits or more). PSEO students take DCTC courses on a space-available basis. Regular college students may have priority for certain programs and courses.

To be eligible, high school seniors must rank in the upper 50% of their class, and juniors must rank in the upper 33% of their high school class or meet qualifying scores on the Placement Test/ACCUPLACER.

PSEO students on IEPs are not eligible for support services at the Postsecondary level. In order to receive services, the student must either receive them from their home district or an arrangement must be made between the district and DCTC for payment for services prior to the student's enrollment. Any questions please contact the Disability Services Office at 651-423-8469.

To qualify as a PSEO student at DCTC, a student must do the following:

  • Complete a DCTC PSEO application for admission which is available on our web site at www.dctc.edu or in Student Services.
  • Attend a Tuesday Campus Admission Visit (12:45-2:30), or schedule an appointment with a DCTC admissions advisor.
  • Submit the PSEO application for admission with proper signatures.
  • Complete the Placement Test/ACCUPLACER.
  • Complete an Immunization Record Form Online, or by downloading the Printable Immunization Form.
  • Submit a High School transcript documenting class rank.
  • Submit the PSEO Program Notice of Student Registration form signed by school counselor.
  • All of the above must be in by June 1st for fall semester enrollment and December 1st for spring semester.

Frequently, high school and college schedules make it difficult for students to balance their desired schedule of courses between schools.

PSEO students are required to attend all DCTC classes even if the high school is not in session.

PSEO is not available for the summer session. PSEO students are not charged for tuition, books, or lab fees but are responsible for paying for non consumable tools and equipment.

The books PSEO students get for their college courses belong to the college. These books must be returned to the Student Services Office at end of each semester. To discuss the PSEO options at DCTC, call Brian Espy at 651.423.8537
