Help Online

If you're unable to visit the Writing Center in person, you can still get help with your work via the internet. To do so, submit your text for review as an attachment to an email note sent to writing.center@dctc.edu. In your note, be sure to include the following:

  • Your essay as an attached Microsoft Word file (a file with a .doc extension); don't cut and paste your essay into the body of the email text itself.
  • A complete description of the assignment; if you're taking an online course, feel free to send the assignment description as an attachment or to cut and paste it into the text of the email.
  • Specific questions or concerns that you have about your work, e.g., organization, structure, presentation of examples, explanations, documentation, grammar, or punctuation. Type your concerns into the body of the email.
  • A note identifying the section of your writing on which you would like the tutor to comment (one page maximum).
  • The course title and your instructor's name
  • Your full name and student ID number.

It can take up to a couple of days to receive a response requested through email, so avoid waiting until a day or two before the assignment is due to submit your file for help.
