Don't Get Caught in Games of Whac-A-Mole
Develop the right strategies to achieve your goals
While attending a carnival recently, I decided to take a turn at a well-known game called Whac-A-Mole. As most of you probably know, Whac-A-Mole involves earning points for bopping plastic moles on the head with a mallet as they pop up randomly from a set of holes.
I found that I was quick enough to brain the emerging mole only about 50 percent of the time. When I missed, I felt as if the mole were snickering at me like the gopher tormenting Bill Murray in the movie Caddyshack.
Even though I enjoyed playing Whac-A-Mole, I soon saw why the game is often used to describe any repetitious and futile task. Because none of us wishes to get hung up in games of Whac-A-Mole in real life, we need to create the best possible strategies to accomplish our goals.
