Drinking and Driving Kills

Lives forever changed and forever lost are all too frequently due to someone making a dangerous and destructive choice. Students and staff can participate in a simulation experience of what it feels like to drive drunk. The audience can participate in the actual experience by viewing the Save a Life Simulator on two large projection screens from both the driver's view and a helicopter view.

So often people think: "Drinking and driving tragedies always happen to someone else."

What if the next victim isn't a nameless and faceless stranger? What if it's someone you know—someone you love? Look for the casket with the signage: "RESERVED FOR THE NEXT DRUNK DRIVING VICTIM."

All week long local meteorologists fussed over the upcoming weekend's weather, predicting rain for Saturday, Sept. 12, but unable to pin down the ultimate intent of an approaching front. As it turned out, rain took a holiday, allowing Dakota County Technical College's Third Annual Septemberfest to illuminate and entertain 5,000-plus visitors under ideal conditions on the college's Rosemount campus. Iconic songwriter Doc Pomus penned a bundle of hits that helped usher in the age of popular music, including "Viva Las Vegas," "Turn Me Loose," "Save the Last Dance for Me," and "This Magic Moment." Dusty Springfield, Dolly Parton, Elvis Presley, Diana Ross and Tina Turner are just a few of the legendary artists who performed his songs.

Be careful how you present yourself on the Internet. Prospective employers will Google your name to find out more about you. Develop positive and branded professional content, including your own logo and Web site, that can be found by searching your full name. Google yourself often to make sure that your online image reflects your career goals.
