Mental Health Awareness Week
Sometimes books aren't the only things that weigh students down.
To gauge your mental well-being, ask yourself the following questions:
- Have you lost pleasure in things you used to enjoy?
- Do you have trouble sleeping or eating?
- Does your mood fluctuate from overly high to hopeless?
- Are you keyed up and anxious all the time?
- Are you having nightmares about your past?
- Do you suffer from unexplained aches and pains?
To learn more about depressive disorders and the counseling services DCTC offers, stop by the information table in the Central Commons Tuesday, Oct. 6, or Thursday, Oct. 8, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
If you have questions, contact Nancy Bailey, Counselor
651-423-8492 or nancy.bailey@dctc.edu

Huge range of activities musters scholarship funds for students
All week long local meteorologists fussed over the upcoming weekend's weather, predicting rain for Saturday, Sept. 12, but unable to pin down the ultimate intent of an approaching front. The Importance of Writing
Clear, concise, error-free writing is a must
How many times have you read something and found yourself distracted by spelling mistakes or poor grammar or thoughts that seemed unorganized? What did you think of the author? Were you impressed or alienated?
If you wish people to take your ideas seriously, you must take your own approach to writing seriously. Don't throw your words on the page and expect other people to sort them out.
When you take the time to revise and proof your writing, you are not only showing respect for your own ideas, but also for your reader. If you do your job right, they won't see your writing at all—only your ideas.
