Teddy Bear Tradition
Making parents feel at home
When parents, both single and married, take the big step to return to college, they often bring their small children along when they visit with our admissions representatives. Because a certain amount of apprehension is attached to the registration process, I've found that presenting a child with a complimentary DCTC Teddy Bear breaks the ice and gives us the chance to let parents know that we really care about their educational experience.
The Teddy Bear tradition pays huge dividends and helps us build strong connections with our students. Along with the bear, I frequently give away a toy bank, dropping in change and telling the child that the money is for their college education. I am always pleased when the child returns some months later and asks for another donation to his or her college fund.
.

Try not to use slang such as "Uh-huh", "Like", "Ya know" or "I know, right?"
They are annoying and not professional. Visit Career Services »
