1st Annual South of the River Legislators Disc Golf Challenge & 1st Annual Mayors Disc Golf Challenge
Democrat and Republican legislators from south of the Mississippi River will square off in a disc golf tournament on a three-hole demo course on campus during Septemberfest.
Rep. Phil Sterner, DFL, District 37B, and Rep. Tara Mack, Republican, District 37A, are co-chairs of the event.
That same day, virtually every mayor in Dakota County will also duel on campus for disc golf bragging rights. Held to help raise funds for DCTC scholarships, both good-spirited tourneys will feature traveling trophies for the winners, who will have their skills tested in an increasingly sophisticated sport that has an amazing variety of discs for different shots and a growing glossary of snappy terms like "hyzer," "worm burner," "pancake," "hammer," and "tomahawk."
A Professional Disc Golf Association expert, Mike Snelson from Fairway Flyerz in St. Paul, will be present to set up the targets and supply equipment. Mike will also be giving disc golfing demos and tips.
The event is sponsored by Fairway Flyerz, the go-to location for all your disc golfing needs, along with the Parks and Recreation department from the city of Rosemount, which recently opened its own PDGA nine-hole disc golf course at Brockway Park.
You don't have to be a legislator or mayor to play. Everybody is welcome to hit the links and test their tossing skills.
Outdoor Movie Night
Featuring the family classic, BABE • 7 – 9 p.m.
"A little pig goes a long way."

Molly Rhoads at Septemberfest
NASCAR driver Molly Rhoads will be at Septemberfest with her super late model racecar. A native of Hastings, Minn., and the first woman in the state to compete in late-model races, Molly will be signing autographs during the Classic Car Show.
Blue Sasquatch Medallion Quest
Inspired by the elusive nature of Sasquatch, aka Bigfoot, the Blue Sasquatch Medallion Quest is a condensed version of the classic medallion hunt, commencing and concluding during Septemberfest hours.
The custom-made medallion will be hidden on the college's Rosemount campus, and searchers will have from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. to find it. Clues will be issued ever half hour during Septemberfest that will lead medallion hunters ever closer to Blue Sasquatch's favorite bauble.
- The winner will receive a prize package worth nearly $300.
